Obstacles in coaching 3. Inactivity

Coach — is not a prince charming. He will not save a princess for you. But coach knows, where the princess is , how to avoid a dragon, who is guiding the castle, and how to survive alive and with rescued princess. But a knight is you, and you will have to rescue the princess. That is why when a client, reclining at ease, is waiting direction to act from the coach, this is, at its minimum, silly. It often happens because of non understanding a coaching. And more often because of passiveness, which, in its turn, reflects absence of confidence with the manager. You have to understand whether he is afraid of being considered as funny, to fail or show weakness. Understanding the reason helps to overcome this weakness. In no, such coaching will not be successful.

Коуч — не принц на белом коне. Он не спасёт за вас принцессу. Но коуч знает, где эта принцесса, как миновать охраняющего замок дракона, и как выбраться назад живым и со спасённой принцессой. Но рыцарь — вы, и спасать принцессу придётся тоже вам. Поэтому когда клиент, развалившись в кресле, ждёт от коуча указаний к действию, это, как минимум глупо. Часто это происходит как раз от непонимания коучинга. А ещё чаще из-за пассивности, которая, в свою очередь, отражает внутреннюю неуверенность руководителя. Боится ли он показаться смешным, потерпеть неудачу или показать слабость — с этим нужно разобраться. Понимание причины помогает преодолеть эту слабость. Если же нет, такой коучинг на вряд ли будет иметь успех.
